How we run the mat

Safety routines

  • Class size

Mini Osu has up to 10 children, kids' classes up to 14, teen and adult classes up to 16 and the family class up to 12 people.

  • Drop-off and pickup

Children check in at the front desk and leave with a parent or an authorized adult.

  • Mat rules

Clean uniforms, short nails, no jewelry and no shoes on the mat. Partners stop the moment the other says stop.

Family policies

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

Watching class and belt tests

Parents and guests are welcome on the bench beside the mat. During a belt test, please stay quiet and keep phones down, and wait outside the mat area until class ends.

What to wear and bring

For a first class, wear a t-shirt and pants without zippers or hard pockets; we lend you a uniform. Tie hair back, remove jewelry, keep nails short and come with clean feet: no shoes on the mat.

When to keep your child home

If your child has a fever, a stomach bug or a skin condition that spreads, keep them home until it has cleared. Please don't send health details through the website; tell the instructor in person.

Drop-off and pickup

Children in kids' and teen classes leave with a parent or an adult you have named at the front desk. We ask to see ID for anyone new, and children wait inside until their adult arrives.

Closures for weather and holidays

We close on holidays and for storms that make roads unsafe to travel. We let families know by text and by email.

Leaving the program

To end a membership, write to us with 30 days' notice. The month in progress is billed, and we can pause a membership instead of ending it.

Screens and phones

Phones stay on silent and in bags during class. Filming a class is only for the instructor to allow, and never of other people's children.
