Questions before your first class
How old do you have to be?
Mini Osu is for ages 4 to 6, kids' classes for ages 7 to 12, teen classes for 13 to 17 and adult classes for 18 and up. The family class is for children from age 7 with their parent or guardian.
What do I wear to my first class?
A t-shirt and pants without zippers or hard pockets. We lend you a uniform for the first class. Tie hair back, remove jewelry and keep nails short.
Can I watch a class first?
Yes. Sit on the bench beside the mat and watch as long as you like. Ask at the front desk and we'll point out which class fits you.
What happens in a class?
A bow, a warm-up, one technique shown by the instructor, practice with a partner and a bow at the end.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Plácido and Benigna teach and talk with families in Spanish and English, and Kristel teaches in English and Spanish.
How do belts work?
Your instructor gives a belt when they see the skills; none comes with a date.
Can the whole family train?
Yes. Each person can go to their own class, or you can come together to the family class, from age 7.
How does tuition work, and how do I cancel?
It depends on who is training and how many classes a week. To cancel, write to us with 30 days' notice; the month in progress is billed, and we can pause a membership for travel or injury.
Do I need to be fit?
No. You get fitter by training, and we show you how to work at your own level. Tell your instructor about anything you want to go easy on.
Do I have to compete?
No. Competing is optional. If you want to, your instructor will tell you what is coming up and how to prepare.
